Campaign for Better Services in NI

We are putting pressure on local government to make sure that every parent across the province has access to safe, timely and appropriate care with specialist services available to all who need them.

We are also asking for funding to extend our peer support network so that those who don’t require specialist treatment can still seek support in their community.

We want to make sure no parent is left behind struggling with mental health issues in isolation.

You can help us to make a real difference by volunteering with us or by making a donation.

Every penny goes to helping people in the local community as well as helping us to campaign for better services.

In Northern Ireland, over 80% of parents have no access to specialist services. In fact, if you live outside the Belfast Trust you are unlikely to find any specialist services at all. Community groups and charities are doing their best to help families on the ground through peer support services but we need more.”

Northern Ireland is the only UK nation not investing in perinatal mental health care and we still have no mother and baby unit meaning that if a mother requires inpatient psychiatric treatment she will be removed from her child, which evidence suggests does more harm.

Our government is failing new and expectant parents and we need to see a real commitment to investing in perinatal mental health services.

We are working with various organisations to change this, and progress is being made.
